What is Bilt Cash? How to earn and redeem this new reward currency

Bilt Cash is a new form of rewards that you can earn and redeem within the Bilt Rewards program. Bilt Cash replaces the former milestone rewards program, but it is a type of currency that you can earn alongside and in addition to Bilt Points.

Bilt recently announced more details about this new currency. So, here’s what you need to know about Bilt Cash, including how to earn and redeem it.

What is Bilt Cash?

Bilt Cash is a rewards currency that you can earn as a Bilt Rewards member in addition to Bilt points.

You earn Bilt Cash by engaging with the Bilt Rewards program, and you can begin redeeming it in February across the Bilt ecosystem for dollar-for-dollar value, special access and more.

How to earn Bilt Cash

You can earn Bilt Cash through two primary methods: the new Bilt credit cards and by reaching points milestones. However, Bilt has explicitly said that it plans to launch new ways to earn Bilt Cash in the future.

Currently, you’ll receive $50 in Bilt Cash each time you earn 25,000 Bilt points. Once the new Bilt cards become usable Feb. 7, cardmembers must choose whether to:

  • Earn 4% in Bilt Cash on all everyday purchases (along with Bilt points)
  • Forgo earning Bilt Cash on your everyday purchases and instead count your everyday card spending toward spending tiers that unlock earning a set percentage of points on your rent or mortgage payments (up to 1.25 points)

Additionally, each new Bilt card includes Bilt Cash as part of its welcome offer. The current welcome offers are as follows:

Bilt Palladium Card members will also get $200 in Bilt Cash when approved for the card and then on Jan. 1 each subsequent year.

How to redeem Bilt Cash

Even if you’ve already started earning Bilt Cash, you can’t redeem Bilt Cash until February. Starting in February, you’ll be able to redeem Bilt Cash for dollar-for-dollar value and specific types of one-time access. Specifically, Bilt shows members the following about redeeming Bilt Cash:

Bilt Cash redemption optionsBILT

So, you’ll be able to redeem Bilt Cash dollar for dollar toward hotel credits, dining credits, fitness credits, Lyft credits, Home Delivery credits and Bilt Collection credits once redemptions launch in February. Unfortunately, most of the dollar-for-dollar redemption options have monthly or annual caps. For example, you can redeem Bilt Cash for credit toward Lyft rides, but you can only redeem up to $10 per single use, per month. Likewise, while you’ll be able to redeem for Blade credits starting March 1, the cap is up to $350 per seat on up to two bookings per year.

You’ll also be able to redeem Bilt Cash to unlock special perks, such as higher transfer bonuses, access to Home Away from Home hotels and early access to booking experiences. For example, access to book Home Away from Home hotels costs $95, and Bilt is letting members redeem $75 of Bilt Cash for the next-higher status tier’s Accor Live Limitless transfer bonus during the February Rent Day.

Bilt cardmembers will also be able to redeem Bilt Cash to unlock Bilt points on rent and mortgage payments. To offset the transaction fee, the redemption rate is 3 cents of Bilt Cash per point unlocked. So, if your monthly rent is $1,000, you could redeem $30 in Bilt Cash to earn 1,000 Bilt points on a month of rent. Importantly, there’s no minimum, so you could redeem 3 cents of Bilt cash to unlock 1 point if you wanted.

Finally, Bilt cardmembers with the Obsidian Card or the Palladium Card will also be able to use Bilt Cash to earn more points on everyday spending. Specifically, these cardmembers will be able to redeem $200 of Bilt Cash to unlock an extra point per dollar spent on all everyday purchases for the next $5,000 in spending following activation. Cardmembers can redeem Bilt Cash to unlock elevated earnings up to five times a year, and each activation expires after $5,000 in spending or at the end of the year. If you redeem Bilt Cash to unlock higher earnings on your Bilt card, you’ll earn as follows:

  • Obsidian: 4 points per dollar spent on dining or groceries, 3 points per dollar spent on travel and 2 points per dollar spent on everyday purchases
  • Palladium: 3 points per dollar spent on everyday purchases

This is just a highlight of some of the ways you can redeem Bilt Cash. Check out our news story announcing Bilt Cash for complete details.

What’s the best way to redeem Bilt Cash?

The best way to redeem Bilt Cash depends on many factors. For example, redeeming Bilt Cash to unlock a higher transfer bonus could provide ample value if the cost is modest and you’re transferring a substantial number of points. Likewise, redeeming Bilt Cash to book a Home Away from Home stay or secure early access to book an experience could provide significant value in certain instances.

BILT

However, considering the rate at which members can redeem Bilt Cash to earn points on rent or mortgage payments (3 cents per point) or an extra point per dollar spent on everyday purchases (4 cents per point), using Bilt Cash for credits at a dollar-for-dollar rate will often provide better value.

TPG’s January 2026 valuations note that Bilt points are worth 2.2 cents each. So, you’d need to redeem Bilt points at a rate of at least 3 cents per point if you redeem Bilt Cash to earn points on rent or mortgage payments (or at a rate of at least 4 cents per point if you redeem Bilt Cash to earn an extra point per dollar spent on everyday purchases). These types of redemption rates are certainly possible with some of the Bilt transfer partners but are far from a given.

As such, if you use any of the dollar-for-dollar options for redeeming Bilt Cash — such as grocery or restaurant deliveries fulfilled via Grubhub, Bilt dining experiences, hotel bookings through the Bilt travel portal, Lyft credits or Bilt Neighborhood Parking — that may be the highest-value way to use Bilt Cash. But especially given the low monthly or annual maximums on these options, you may also need to redeem some Bilt Cash to earn more Bilt points, unlock higher transfer bonuses or secure additional benefits.

Does Bilt Cash expire?

The Bilt Cash in your account expires at the end of each calendar year, regardless of when you earned it. However, you can roll over up to $100 in Bilt Cash each year.
